How Samaritan Score works
A positive-only record. People write stories about the good you did for them; you approve what is published; the stories add up to a score. Separately, people can vouch for you. Nothing negative can ever be recorded.
Stories and relationships
Every story declares how the writer knows you and explains what happened.
Someone you know well and would vouch for. A short, honest note about who they are.
At least 40 words.
They showed up and helped you with something that mattered: a move, a hard week, a problem you couldn't solve alone.
At least 80 words.
They changed the course of your life, or stepped in when something serious was at stake.
At least 150 words.
Tiers
Helper and Hero stories are placed in a tier by a few plain questions: how long it went on, whether something serious was at stake, and whether it was an everyday kindness.
- Tier 1 · A kindness in the moment0.25 SP
- Tier 2 · Help over several days1 SP
- Tier 3 · Sustained help, or help when something real was at stake3 SP
- Tier 4 · Months of help, or serious stakes8 SP
- Tier 5 · Saved a life or prevented permanent harm at serious cost (reviewed)20 SP
A Friend story counts as a fixed 0.5 SP (the first ten count). A Tier 5 claim counts as Tier 3 until a reviewer confirms it. If two people write about each other, the later story counts for half. The person the story is about can lower a tier when they approve, never raise it.
The score
Samaritan Points (SP) become a 1–100 score on a curve that rewards the first stories most and flattens at the top.
| Points | Score | Label |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 | 8 | Recognized |
| 2 | 13 | Recognized |
| 5 | 19 | Recognized |
| 10 | 25 | Appreciated |
| 20 | 33 | Appreciated |
| 40 | 44 | Trusted |
| 80 | 57 | Trusted |
| 160 | 76 | Pillar |
| 320 | 100 | Good Samaritan |
Labels: Recognized (1–19), Appreciated (20–39), Trusted (40–59), Pillar (60–79), Good Samaritan (80–100). There are no rankings, no leaderboards and no comparisons between people. Nothing can be bought.
Vouches
A vouch is simpler than a story.
Vouching puts your name on someone's public list of people who vouch for them. It takes a minute and an optional note about how you know them. The vouch count is shown as large as the score, but it is not part of the score. The person can hide any vouch from their list.
Consent
Nothing publishes about you until you approve it.
- Someone nominates you or writes a story; you get an invitation or a notification.
- You read the whole story, see any photos, and choose: publish, publish for members only, or decline.
- You can hide or remove a published story at any time. You can hide vouches from your list.
- Concerns go through a private flag. Nothing negative is ever shown.
Reading and privacy
- Anyone can see profiles, scores, vouch counts and public story summaries.
- Full story text, the list of who vouches and comments are for verified members (email and phone).
- Visitors see names as “First L.”. Members see full names.
- Emails and phone numbers are never shown. Photos are re-encoded with location data removed.
- The platform never edits what people write. It publishes, holds, hides or removes.
